Canada’s iconic Victory Nickel reissued for the 75th anniversary of VE Day

2020 was the year we marked the 75th Anniversary of VE Day. The day which signalled the end of World War II in Europe and brought long awaited peace to our nation.

75 years later from this special day, the Royal Canadian Mint brought back to life their famous Victory Nickel on a modern day tribute.

V for Victory

Originally struck from 1943 to 1945 as a piece of propaganda to promote the Canadian war effort, it's a fitting way to commemorate this significant anniversary.

Staying true to the original, the reverse features a flaming torch inside a “V” that at once both symbolises Victory and the denomination of the coin. It’s even struck from pure bronze as a nostalgic nod to the tombac used to strike the original nickels.

All 8,000 coins SOLD OUT at the Mint

Unsurprisingly, the entire worldwide edition limit of 8,000 coins has COMPLETELY SOLD OUT at the Royal Canadian Mint, in just 3 months!

The fact that this issue is completely sold out at the Mint means we have managed to secure what we anticipate are the last available coins on the market. And we suspect very few outside the limited number I have sourced will make their way to the UK.
