What the edition limit cut means for the Silver Proof Christmas Sovereign

The Isle of Man Silver Sovereign for Christmas 2022, came with a big surprise in the form of a little edition limit…

Just 1,350 Sovereigns were authorised, making it the smallest edition limit of any British Isles Silver Sovereign ever issued. Down from 2,021 in 2021.

  • The official Silver Proof Christmas Sovereign for 2022.
  • Limited to just 1,350 coins - slashed by a third from 2021.
  • Struck to the same specification as the UK Gold Proof Sovereign, but in Pure Silver.
  • Design inspired by Mona Douglas MBE's poem 'Angel of the Woods'
  • Yours for just £49.95 (+p&p)!

Inspired by the poem ‘Angel of the Woods’, written over 100 years ago by famous Manx poet, Mona Douglas MBE, it features a full-colour depiction of a Christmas Angel designed by well-known Manx artist, Julia Ashby-Smyth.

Not only is the design exceptional, the tiny edition limit that will drive the coin to be a must-have issue. We’ve only been able to secure a small number, so please don’t delay in securing yours.

She walks, white-gowned, amid the glades of fir one bird her chorister … Her robin sings upon a budding thorn Her sweet grey eyes glow with a steadfast light, As glow the stars.

Mona Douglas was the most influential Manx poet of the 20th century and was passionate about reviving the Manx Culture. Douglas spent significant amounts of time archiving songs, dances, and stories and worked hard to bring these back from extinction.
