This coin was issued as part of a series of 29 Olympic 50ps in commemoration of London 2012, with each 50p featuring a different Olympic Sport.

Boxing is one of the most illustrious and historic sports in the Olympic Games with men sparring since the original Olympic Games in Ancient Greece. Team GB won a total of 3 gold medals in boxing, one of which belongs to Nicola Adams who became the first
ever Women’s champion.

This coin features a pair of boxing gloves crossed over each other inside a boxing ring.
