Carefully struck using Smartminting© technology this 2 ounce Pure Silver commemorative features intricate designs on both the obverse and reverse.
Reverse: The Sorting Hat - A sentient magical hat who determines which of the four school Houses each new student most belongs to. Originally belonging to Godric Gryffindor, it uses a tear along the brim as a mouth to speak. It is the battered, rolling leather of the hat which can be seen intricately detailed on the commemorative.
Obverse: The Hogwarts Crest - depicting the four houses, alongside the school motto.

The commemorative also features ‘incuse’ striking. An incuse strike is another relatively new minting process only used by a few Mints that allows a design to be struck into a commemorative creating a ‘sunken’ look, as opposed to the standard raised relief.
