In 1824, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was established, and this year we celebrate their 200th Anniversary.

Commemorating their hard work and dedication to rescuing lives at sea, a Gold Proof 50p coin has been issued by The Royal Mint.

The coin has been struck from 22 Carat Gold and the edition limit has been set at JUST 150 coins worldwide.

Furthermore, each coin:

  • Has been struck to a flawless Proof finish from 22 carat gold.
  • Has been created in collaboration with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
  • Features a reverse design by renowned coin artist John Bergdahl, displaying the RNLI flag surrounded by a life ring.
  • Displayed in official Royal Mint packaging that explores the history and heritage of the RNLI
  • Features the new King Charles III portrait on the obverse of the coins, designed by Martin Jennings
  • JUST 150 coins worldwide - by far the most limited way to own this new UK 50p coin.

The Royal Mint Limited will contribute 3% of the price excluding VAT in support of the RNLI. Payments are made to RNLI (Sales) Ltd (which pays all its taxable profits to the RNLI, a charity registered in England and Wales (209603),Scotland (SC037736), the Republic of Ireland (20003326), the Bailiwick of Jersey (14), the Isle of Man (1308 and 006329F) and the Bailiwick of Guernsey and Alderney.
